"I worked with Rebecca because of struggling with low confidence and anxiety. I was my own worst critic but also lived in fear of people judging me. I knew I could have a better job and more friends but held myself back. Over time, I was able to understand that trauma I had experienced in childhood was still affecting my daily life and with Rebeccas empathy but also practical approach I was able to become kinder to myself and more confident. I can't than her enough"

How therapy and counselling can help
All therapists differ in their approach but the therapy I offer combines a safe, non-judgmental and empathetic space with practical evidence-based tools to create the life you want.
Most people I work with want help to change patterns that are causing them stress in relationships or other areas of life. Often this tends to come from early experiences so a big part of how I work is exploring your childhood and how it has affected you. This helps us understand what has shaped your current patterns so we can build a tailored plan to create the future you want, based on the following evidence-based tools:
ACT/Mindfulness: To help you become more aware of, and learn to relate differently to, unhelpful thoughts and feelings. This helps you be more present, reduce overthinking and make choices based on your deepest values. As a mindfulness teacher I love making mindfulness meditation more accessible as I know many people try it and give up.
Compassion Focussed Therapy Combines the latest research into neuroscience, attachment theory, somatic practices and mindfulness to create a powerful psychological intervention to reduce self-criticism and shame .
CBT: Helps you understand how specific thoughts cause your feelings that drive people pleasing behavior. You’ll learn how to develop different perspectives and take practical steps to change behaviour.
EMDR: A highly effective a widely used intervention, recommended by WHO and NICE, to process traumatic past events and let go of limiting beliefs.
All the above approaches involve you, as the client, learning new skills in between sessions to gain immediate relief as well as work towards change. This is more than “just listening” as its grounded in practical evidence based techniques to make a real life long difference to your life.
"I thought it was normal to feel responsible for everyone's emotions and that this made me a good person. But with Rebecca's gentle and compassionate challenges, I was able to realise that it wasn't healthy and was in fact harming my relationships. We worked on a deep level to understand my core beliefs but also learnt practical tools to safely make the changes I needed. My connections at work and home have improved and I also feel much calmer in daily life"

Do you only offer therapy in Glossop ?
No, I also work online so have sessions with people who live all over England, even from different parts of the world. Evidence shows that online therapy is just as effective as in-person, however, I am aware some people prefer in-person sessions.
If you have found my page by searching on directory’s for Manchester or Sheffield, you are welcome to travel to my therapy room. Although, if this is not convenient we can meet over zoom instead or do a combination.
How much is therapy in Glossop or online?
My sessions are £70 for 50 mins. The cost also includes weekly emails with information and resources, including my own guided meditations, to help you work on yourself in between sessions.
How Long Will Therapy Take?
Its very hard to say how long therapy will take as it differs from person to person. Therapy for people pleasing is not a quick fix and it can take time to build a relationship, understand your past experiences and then put the new tools into practice. It is therefore usually a long term commitment and committing to at least 12-16 sessions is a good idea.
When and where are sessions?
I offer therapy in Glossop from a beautiful room overlooking Norfolk Square. I also offer zoom sessions so if you cannot get to the counselling room or live too far away, we can still work together.
I work Tuesday to Thursday 10am-4pm and offer consultations on Mondays.
I offer regular sessions to clients either weekly or fortnightly.
About Me: I can help because I've been there.
I am a fully qualified BACP registered therapist and mindful self compassion teacher.
I became a therapist due to struggling with low self worth and anxiety in my personal relationships. I used to care alot about what people thought and felt stressed trying to please everyone. It was only when therapy helped me realise the impact that low esteem was having. Through supportive therapeutic relationships and evidence based tools I feel much more comfortable in my own skin and secure in my relationships.
Before I become a therapist I worked for Mind and also Rethink – delivering psychoeducation workshops and managing community courses. I therefore bring a wealth of experience to our sessions.
