Therapy for low self-esteem & anxiety

Do you lie awake at night overthinking social interactions? Do you sabotage relationships and friendships by feeling anxious and insecure? Are you trying so hard to please everyone at home or work that you’re overwhelmed and resentful? Or are you sick of comparing yourself to others and never feeling good enough? If so therapy for low self esteem and anxiety can help.

Hi, My name is Rebecca Stambridge. I am a qualified  psychotherapist, mindfulness teacher and self esteem & anxiety specialist. I work online or in person.

Would you like to...

silence your inner critic and know you’re good enough so that you feel secure in work and relationships.

Would you like to....

stop worrying what people think so that you know who you are and can build a life aligned with your needs.

Would you like to....

be free of self doubt and anxiety so you say yes to that invitation or go for that promotion.

"I have always suffered with low self-esteem and was my own worse critic. I tried therapy before but Rebecca's kind and practical approach had the best results. I use the exercises Rebecca taught me almost on a daily basis, helping bring a moment of calm and self acceptance when I’m feeling stressed or overwhelmed by negative thoughts. I feel more positive about the future and would recommend Rebecca’s practice to anyone"

Low self esteem impacts us in many different ways. We can work on...

  • Overthinking
  • Fear of rejection and failure
  • Panic Attacks
  • Excessive Worrying
  • Low mood and lack of motivation
  • People pleasing
  • Perfectionism
  • Work Anxiety/Stress and Burnout
  • Relationship and/or friendship anxiety
  • High functioning anxiety
  • Imposter syndrome
  • Self criticism

How I work

I believe that therapy should be an active collaboration so you’re heard and validated but also empowered with the information and tools you need to move forward. I am trained in the following highly effective and evidence based techniques to increase your self esteem so you can let go of anxiety and build the life you want.

  • Compassion Focussed Therapy is a cutting edge, evidence based approach specifically designed to reduce self criticism and enhance self esteem. It combines the latest research into neuroscience, attachment theory, somatic practices, mindfulness and CBT to create a powerful psychological intervention. There is overwhelming evidence that building self compassion helps to heal early attachment wounds and equips people with newfound resilience to deal with the stresses of life with kindness and acceptance instead of criticism.

  • CBT: Is the gold standard method for improving mental health which helps you recognise and change the unhelpful thoughts contributing to low self esteem and anxiety. Combined with active relaxation, breathwork and mindfulness, and self compassion, CBT is a powerful intervention for self esteem.

  • Mindfulness: When we have low self esteem and anxiety we are consumed with negative thinking and experience difficult feelings in the body. Mindfulness helps you to take a step back from unhelpful thoughts and learn how to regulate uncomfortable physical symptoms so they no longer hold you back.

"Before working with Rebecca I felt crippled by lack of confidence and anxious about everything. Fear of making mistakes stopped me living the life I wanted and I felt like a support actor in my own life. Rebecca helped me understand why I felt how I did and then we worked together to build up my self compassion and esteem with practical tools I can use forever. I feel like a different person and am so glad I started this journey"

How Long Will Therapy For Self Esteem Take?

Its very hard to say how long therapy will take as it differs from person to person. Therapy for self esteem is not a quick fix and it can take time to build a relationship, understand your past experiences and then put the new tools into practice. It is therefore usually a long term commitment and committing to at least 12-16 sessions is a good idea.

How much is therapy for low self esteem?

My sessions are £60 for 50 mins. The cost also includes weekly emails with information and resources, including my own guided meditations, to help you work on yourself in between sessions.

About Me: I can help because I've been there.

I am a fully qualified BACP registered therapist and mindful self compassion teacher. I am passionate about helping people with low self esteem feel good about themselves because I know how debilitating it can be not to.  I know first hand how that nagging sense of not being good enough and living with a constant need for approval feels.

I used to be so worried about what other people thought that it held me back from living the life I wanted and created anxiety in my work and personal life. When I discovered techniques that helped me accept myself, be comfortable in my own skin and meet my own needs it inspired me to train as a therapist and so that I can share these techniques with others.

I have worked in mental health for over 15 years, including well known mental health charities such as MIND and RETHINK. In addition to my private therapy practice I am also a qualified and experienced mindfulness teacher and Anxiety UK Approved Therapist.
