Want to feel less anxious in social relationships & care less what people think?
I’m so glad you found me.
I’m Rebecca “The Friendship Therapist“. I offer practical down-to-earth therapy for people who overthink, please and don’t feel good enough in friendships & beyond.
Therapy in Glossop or Online
If you’re tired of living in fear of rejection, I can help. Do any of these sound familiar?
- You spiral if texts go unanswered and lie awake at night, convinced your friends are mad at you.
- You overthink social interactions - analysing how you came across and worry people don't like you.
- The need for approval is so powerful that you don’t know who you are and how to live for you.
- You can't say no to friends (or anyone else!) without feeling like a terrible person or being scared you'll lose them.
- You experience strong feelings of rejection if friends cancel, seem distant or close to others.

A bit about me
I am a fully qualified BACP registered, integrative psychotherapist based in Glossop, Derbyshire.
I see clients face to face but also work online so can work with people from across the UK and Europe (If you live outside these areas, enquire about my coaching packages)
For years, I lived with a constant feeling of not being good enough and worrying what everyone thought, which affected all areas of my life— especially friendships.
This is why I am so passionate about helping others experience the same transformation and you can read more about my journey by clicking below.
I live in a rainy, hilly part of Northern England and love exploring the local hills, meditating & listening to vinyl with my family.
"I have always suffered with low self-worth and was my own worse critic. I tried therapy before but Rebecca's kind and practical approach had the best results. I use the exercises Rebecca taught me almost on a daily basis, helping bring a moment of calm and self acceptance when I’m feeling stressed or overwhelmed by negative thoughts. I feel more positive about the future and would recommend Rebecca’s practice to anyone"

Compassionate, Trauma-Informed Therapy.
If you feel anxious in your relationships and you never feel good enough, this isn’t your fault. It’s nearly always rooted in childhood experiences that taught you how to relate to yourself and others.
The therapy I offer helps explore how past experiences are affecting your present relationships and uses the latest evidence-based tools to overcome low self worth, feel more at ease in your relationships and create the future you want.
I blend the following practical, trauma-informed approaches:
- CBT – helps you understand how your thoughts and feelings shape your behaviour and teaches you how to generate different perspectives.
- Mindfulness/Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you give space to tricky thoughts and feelings, reduce overthinking and live by your values.
- EMDR process traumatic memories from childhood that are keeping you stuck
- Compassion Focussed Therapy uses practical tools to reduce self-criticism and shame and increase self-compassion.

"Before working with Rebecca I felt crippled by lack of confidence and anxious about everything. Fear of making rejection stopped me making connections. Rebecca helped me understand why I felt how I did and then we worked together to build up my self esteem so that I felt more secure with my friends. I feel like a different person and am so glad I started this journey"
