Anger in itself is not a problem as it is a natual human response. But how we express that anger can cause problems if it is out of proportion or frequent.
Anger is sometimes a stress response due to situation triggered our “flight and flight” response. But it can also be an indicator of deeper issues or early life experience.
I draw on my extensive experience of delivering anger management courses for the mental health charity MIND. This means I can equip you with practical skills to manage you anger long term.
Counselling is a powerful process where the you can talk about what is going on for you in a confidential and supportive space. I will listen without judgement but also reflect what I hear to help increase your awareness and look at things differently.
In addition to this, as a qualified integrative therapist I can offer a range of techniques, tailored to meet your needs. This includes mindfulness, CBT and compassion based approaches.
I will therefore offer a space to offload to identify the causes of anger and as teach CBT, mindfulness and compassion based techniques.
Mindfulness involves equipping you with the skills to take a step back from unhelpful thoughts. It also involve learning to tolerate difficult feelings, which can be very useful for managing anger.
Compassion based interventions are useful for reducing shame or self criticism which can also contribute to anger. CBT involves challenges the unhelpful thoughts that causes feelings and encouraging us to look at things a different way.
